Multiple Choice Questions: The pass mark for the MCQ examinations as a whole will be set according to approved and accepted standard setting protocols, normalised and then scaled. A module passed at the second attempt may only be awarded a maximum mark of 40% 8. 8.1 8.2Requirements to Pass Overall First Sit In order to gain the BSc with Honours To obtain an average mark for the year of 40% with not less than 35% as the aggregated average from the component parts of each module and a Pass in the Professional Development and Clinical Skills Module and to have achieved 40% in the aggregated final year project marks. In order to gain the BSc To achieve at least 40% for the weighted aggregate marks for all 3 years. (see classification for weighting) and to have achieved 40% in individual modules amounting to 60 credits in Part 3. Resit As First Sit 9. 9.1. 9.2. 9.3. 9.4.Consequences of Failure or Failure to complete A candidate who has successfully completed Part 2 remains eligible for the award of Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing in Higher Education. A candidate who fails a module at the first sit is required to take the module resit or relinquish the course. A candidate who fails a module at the second attempt is required to relinquish the course. S/he will have the right of appeal as described in College Regulations. A candidate who is eligible for BSc but not BSc Honours will also have a right of appeal as described in College Regulations deleted10.Honours Classification The marks from Years 1, 2 and 3 shall be weighted in the ratio 10:35:55 and aggregated and then scaled to a percentage. If a candidate has been admitted with exemption directly to Part 2, the marks from Parts 2 and 3 shall be weighted in the ratio 35:55 and aggregated and then scaled to give a percentage to be used for classification. If a candidate has been admitted with exemption directly to Part 3, the marks from Parts 3 alone shall be used for classification. For candidates who have passed the year overall as described in 8 above, the Degree shall be classified as follows:  First Class First Class Upper Second Class Upper Second Class Lower Second Class Lower Second Class Third Class Third Class 70% or above with at least 60% in the Part 3 69% or above with at least 60% in the Part 3 and at least 75% for the combined Project marks 60% to 69.% with at least 50% in the Part 3 59% or above with at least 50% in the Part 3 and at least 65% for the combined Project marks 50% to 59.% with at least 40% in the Part 3 49% or above with at least 40% in the Part 3 and at least 55% for the combined Project marks 40% to 49.% with at least 40% in the Part 3 39% or above with at least 40% in the Part 3 and at least 45% for the combined Project marks 12.Absence and Summative in- course assessment. Where a student has an allowable absence, s/he will be marked absent (A) from a summative assessment. Where a student has an A, and there are three or more in-course assessments in the year, the marks awarded will be the average of the other in-course assessment marks gained by the student. 90% of the marks for the year must be attributed to results of direct assessment i.e. no more than 10% of marks can be attributed to Absent (A). An allowable absence is one that is for a significant unforeseeable event such as illness. Any other foreseeable absence will only be considered allowable if agreed by an Academic Progress Committee and this will only apply in very strictly limited circumstances. A student absent for any other reason will be awarded 0 (zero) for the assessment. 13. Late submission of work.
