BSc Year 1 To have achieved a pass in all modules and To have achieved a Pass in the reflective BLOG activity. Requirements to Pass Certificate of Higher Education in Small Animal Welfare and Care Module In order to pass a module a student must obtain an aggregated average of 40% from the assessment activities combined Certificate 8.2.1. To have achieved a pass in all modules for year 1 Or 8.2.2. To have achieved an outright pass in modules to the value of 95 credits and to have obtained an average for the year of at least 40% and to have no module with a mark of less than 35%.9 9.1 9.2 Requirements to proceed To Proceed to Year 2 of the BSc (Hons)Veterinary Nursing To have met the requirements to pass year 1 of the BSc overall (section 8.1.2). To Proceed to Year 2 of the FDSc Veterinary Nursing To have met the required to pass year 1 of the FdSc Veterinary Nursing as described in the relevant award and assessment regulations.10 10.1 10.2 10.3 10.4Consequences of Failure or Failure to Complete A student is required to resit any module failed at the first attempt. In order to resit a student will retake any assessment activity failed at the first attempt. The mark obtained for a module at the second attempt shall be not greater than 50% A candidate who fails to satisfy the requirements to proceed to year 2 BSc (Hons) (section 9.1) after two attempts is required to relinquish the course. S/he has a right of appeal as described in the College Regulations A candidate who is unable to proceed to year 2 of the BSc (Hons)after resit has a right of appeal as described in the College Regulations even if s/he meets the requirements to proceed to FdSc.11. 11.1 11.2 11.3Award and Classification Year 1 will contribute 10% to the overall BSc(Hons) degree classification The award of Certificate is available only to students who do not proceed to Year 2 study for either the FdSc or the BSc. The award of Certificate will be classified by the aggregate average marks as follows: 40-64% Pass 64-69% Merit 70% or more Distinction 12. Disclosure of Marks Results will be published by candidate number. 13.Absence from summative assessment Where a student has an allowable absence, s/he will be marked absent (A) from a summative assessment and will be required to sit the assessment activity at the next available time. An allowable absence is one that is for a significant unforeseeable event such as illness. Any other foreseeable absence will only be considered allowable if agreed by PRUNE and this will only apply in very strictly limited circumstances. A student absent for any other reason will be awarded 0 (zero) for the assessment.14.Late submission of work Late or non-submission of assignment or assessed work will not be marked and will be recorded as a mark of 0 (zero).
