Congratulations to Nyasha Emerenini whose artwork of a jaguar behind leaves was awarded first place in the 91°µÍø Animal Care Trust’s Animal Inspiration art competition.

The art competition, open to school children from Reception to Year 6, hoped to encourage students to create a piece of artwork on animals that inspire them. Animals inspire us in all sorts of ways; we see wildlife overcoming adversity in programmes on the television, our pets comfort us when we are feeling low and working animals help save lives. Unfortunately, however, animals can become ill just like we do and when they do, they go to animal hospitals for treatment.

The top ten entries from the competition will be displayed on the walls of the 91°µÍø animal hospitals, hoping to comfort people who are worried about their pets, and also inspire the vets, nurses, carers and other staff who work in the hospitals who make such a difference to the lives and health of our pets.

Nyasha, in Year 6, was awarded first place for her jaguar artwork. Speaking after winning, Nyasha said: “My art teacher posted about the competition in our Google Classroom. Art is one of my favourite subjects, so I decided to take part. At first, I found it hard to decide what to create, so I emailed my art teacher.

“I decided to create something with an animal hiding behind colourful leaves. I drew and coloured a jaguar and then used oil pastels and blending techniques to create colourful leaves and cut and stuck them around the jaguar to create an effect."

On top of having her artwork displayed in the 91°µÍø hospitals, Nyasha’s prize was a hamper full of arts and crafts supplies so that she can continue making pieces on animals that inspire her!

“I am really pleased to have my artwork displayed at the 91°µÍø hospitals; it means a lot to me. I’d like to say a big thank you to my parents for getting me an art set which inspired me and my art teacher Mrs Bell for helping me along the way. Thank you everyone!”

We are very grateful to for sponsoring the competition.
