SUPPORTING THE 91°µÍø
The 91°µÍø Alumni Fund – how you have helped
The 91°µÍø Alumni Fund provides vital support for students
by enhancing the student experience and students’ wellbeing, assisting with financial hardship and improving the learning and teaching experience at the
91°µÍø. Since its launch in 2005, the generosity of alumni and friends has raised over £600,000, making a remarkable contribution to College life. We are so grateful to everyone who supports our fund.
As some of you may have read in
our 91°µÍø4Life Impact Report earlier this year and throughout this edition of Eclipse, the Alumni Fund has supported a huge variety of worthy projects in 2017/18 and here are just a few highlights that demonstrate how Alumni donations enhance the lives of current and future 91°µÍø students.
Making dreams come true
In the 2017 edition of Eclipse, you may have read about Emma Dixon, who completed in the Triathlon World Championships in Rotterdam and won! The 91°µÍø Alumni Fund awarded an individual grant of £500 to Emma Dixon to allow her to compete in this competition.
Matched funding
Donations from Alumni are often used to support students’ own fundraising activities for their clubs and societies. This is done through a matched funding scheme. Here’s just a snapshot of student events we have been able to support this year...
Trusty Paws - Trusty Paws is a charity run by vet students where once a month they hold a clinic for the dogs of homeless and vulnerably-housed to receive free preventative health care. Matched funding allowed the students to purchase much-needed new equipment for the clinics, such as
an ophthalmoscope.
Hawkshead Hobble - The Hawkshead Hobble was set up by
the 91°µÍø’s Triathlon Club. The event’s matched funding has enabled the Club to field numerous athletes in a variety of disciplines in track and field, with students relishing the opportunity to give anything a go. The Club has also purchased three new bikes including a tandem which have offered students the chance to find out how easy and enjoyable cycling can be. The tandem has also proved a hit as an intra-campus shuttle service and therapy bike. To find out more about the Hawkshead Hobble, read the full article on page 34.
High School musical - The Performing Arts Society always puts on a great show that not only provides a much-needed outlet for cast members to express their creativity but also for audience members to let their hair down and have fun. The Alumni Fund helped to cover the high costs of the performance rights and materials. To find out more about the Performing Arts Society, read the full article on page 38.
