Camden Campus
Our London campus is in Camden, one of the most creative and stimulating areas of the city.
Famous for its markets, vibrant culture and music venues, Camden is an exciting place to experience student life. It is also home to a beautiful canal and lock, Regent’s Park, ZSL London Zoo and the iconic Roundhouse music venue.
Our historic Camden Campus is where Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) students spend their first two years, or the first year of the Accelerated BVetMed and Veterinary Gateway, before Gateway students join the BVetMed students for another two years at the Camden Campus. Biological Sciences pathway students study at Camden throughout their courses, except Animal Biology, Behaviour, Welfare and Ethics students who spend their final year at Hawkshead.
Academic facilities
The Hobday Building is the centre of the Camden Campus. In 2021 it benefitted from its most extensive redevelopment in over 80 years. Approximately £14 million was invested to provide students with new classrooms, extra social learning spaces, an extended dining facility, larger common rooms, and much-improved social areas. It also holds lecture theatres, a learning resource centre, a teaching lab and dissection room.
Modern world-class laboratories including molecular biology labs with cell culture, as well as state-of-the-art cell and tissue imaging facilities.
Student facilities
At the heart of the Campus is the Lightwell, a bright and open café where you can have coffee next to a full size elephant skeleton! Above the Lightwell is the Pod. This social learning space hangs above the café and provides students with a quiet, comfortable area to work in, either on your own or with classmates.
The Haxby is our Students’ Union run bar at the Camden Campus. The bar offers freshers’ events, sports teams’ socials and quizzes, all with the aim of bringing the people of the 91°µÍø together. With a pool table, TVs, sofas and bar snacks, the aim is to provide our hard-working students and staff with somewhere to relax between lectures or unwind in the evenings.
The refurbished Camden gym offers weight and cardiovascular machines, as well as a dance and aerobics studio where we run Zumba, Yoga and Pilates classes. The gym is free to use and is open seven days a week.
