Why rabbit vaccinations important
Vaccinations help to protect your rabbit/bunny from severe infectious diseases. It also stops them from passing dangerous infections to other rabbits. Rabbits should be kept inside until they have been fully vaccinated; however even indoor rabbits can contract these diseases as they are spread by flying insects and on hay and other items that enter the home.
How old should a rabbit be to be vaccinated?
Rabbits/bunnies can be vaccinated from five weeks old onwards.
How often should rabbits be vaccinated after their first inoculations?
We recommend that rabbits receive ‘booster’ vaccinations every 12 months after their first vaccinations
Which diseases do rabbit vaccinations protect against?
Rabbit inoculations are designed to give protection against
- Myxomatosis
- Rabbit (Viral) Haemorrhagic Disease 1 (RHD1)
- Rabbit (Viral) Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RHD2)
Who can vaccinate my rabbit?
Normally, your rabbit would be vaccinated after a health check by a veterinary surgeon. Veterinary nurses can also administer rabbit vaccinations if a veterinary surgeon has performed a recent health check.
What is the cost of rabbit/bunny vaccinations?
Rabbit vaccination costs £77.00 for the combined vaccine against myxomatosis and RHD1&2.
What happens if my rabbit is from a rescue centre?
If you adopt a rabbit from a charity, they are often vaccinated before you take them home. Always check with the charity and ask for the vaccination documentation.
What documentation do I need if my rabbit has already been inoculated ?
Ask for the vaccination records so you can take them to your vet when they are due their annual rabbit booster jab – and you can make a note of the anniversary on your calendar or in your diary!

When can I get my rabbit vaccinated ?
We offer rabbit vaccinations from Monday to Friday and between 9am and 3:30pm on Saturdays

Firstly, your pet needs to be registered with us.
